Hello neighbours!
The View Royal Fastball Association (VRFA) has been a fixture in the View Royal community for over 65 years. The VRFA has built strong community relationships between players, families and local residents who enjoy the park to take in a game or eat at the concession. We strive to create and maintain an environment of integrity, teamwork, honesty, and fair play with a secondary importance placed on winning. Enabling players to become stronger physically, emotionally, socially, and to value fitness and community in their lives is an overall goal.
The VRFA’s 2025 season currently has 7 girls’ teams, a learn to play team and 1 women’s team representing View Royal locally, nationally and internationally.
The batting cage at our local Helmcken Centennial Park has been a great asset to the VRFA for over 30 years. It allows for teams to continue to develop their batting skills off-field between the months of March - October 9am - 9pm. The current cage style is weather dependent and has limited player access to develop if there is rain or too much wind as it is unsafe to use.
The VRFA would like to install vinyl curtains and supportive lighting inside the cage to allow for greater and consistent opportunity for our athletes and teams to practice and develop their skills. The curtains would allow for year-round safe access and use; they could be pulled back in the summer months when the weather is warmer and would be closed on rainy or windy days in the winter months. The curtains also provide a sound-damping barrier for any noise that may occur during use.
Why are we sharing all this information with you, our neighbour? The VRFA would like to engage the View Royal community that surrounds the park and request you to fill out the below survey to have your say on this matter. Once the survey is complete the results will be submitted to the Town of View Royal for their consideration on the installation of the curtains.
